Community Health Systems Medical Asst., Certified - Heart of Texas Internal Medicine in Brownwood, Texas
Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that will include checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam room; assisting patients as needed to collect specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history, performing screening per provider's request; assisting providers/nurses with various procedures, charting, relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include setting up instruments, cleaning of instruments, and restocking exam rooms. Fulfills clinical Medical Assisting responsibilities that vary according to state law, which may include checking vital signs and measurements; physical examination preparations, clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections, prescriptions verifications with physician orders; applying dressings and suture removal; bio hazard waste disposal and monitoring. Laboratory procedures including Occupational Safety and Health Administrations guidelines; quality control methods; CLIA-waived testing; specimen handling such as urine, throat, vaginal, stool and sputum.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one year work experience in a public contact job, preferable service related and experience in health care preferred.
Current Medical Assistant Certificate or be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certificate required.
