Community Health Systems Project Chief Nursing Officer - Division IV in Franklin, Tennessee


The Project Chief Nursing Officer position works within a specified Division by providing direction and support to the CNOs within that division. The position requires 90-100% travel to hospitals within the division, which includes hospitals within the States of Tennessee, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

  • The Project CNO is responsible for training and development of newly hired Chief Nursing Officers, coaching and mentoring existing CNOs, serving as Interim CNO as needed, providing assistance on specific nursing or staffing projects and managing various projects in the division as it relates to CNOs and nursing.

  • The Project CNO will participate in the functional decision-making processes necessary to the successful attainment of the hospital's mission in addition to maintaining an awareness of changes in healthcare financial matters that could have an impact on the financial success of the hospital and division.

  • The Project CNO should be well-versed in the company s Community Cares patient-care culture and ensure it is being observed at all hospitals within the Division.



  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required

  • Master s degree in Nursing, Business or Health Administration from an accredited institution.


  • 7+ years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment; for-profit experience preferred

  • Recent for-profit acute care CNO experience; within a hospital system preferred;

  • Must possess detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operations and current regulations

  • Experience with HMS and/or Cerner preferred

  • Must possess in-depth understanding of staffing guidelines as well as a proven track record of success in training nursing leadership on productivity standards.


  • Must be a registered nurse (RN) with current licensure ineachof the states within the specific division (or obtain licensure within 90 days of employment)


  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, patient s families, and community

  • Ability to maintain confidential information concerning personal, financial, or medical matters
