Community Health Systems RN - 1C Cardiac/Telemetry Medical Unit, Full-Time, 7p-7a in Knoxville, Tennessee
The Cardiovascular Step Down Unit at Physicians Regional Medical Center is a fast-paced 34 bed nursing unit. The Cardiovascular Step Down Unit provides care to patients with a wide array of cardiovascular conditions ranging from heart failure to open heart surgery. The nurse-to-patient ratio on this unit ranges from 3-5 patients per nurse, depending on patient acuity. The multidisciplinary care team on this unit includes Registered Nurses, Care Partners, and Unit Clerks.
Registered Nurses joining this team need strong assessment and critical thinking skills to be prepared for this fast-paced environment. Advanced nursing skills are required for the Cardiovascular Step Down Unit to manage chest tubes, arterial sheaths, and titrate IV infusions. Registered Nurses on this unit are required to complete specialized training to include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and a cardiac dysrhythmia course. All Registered Nurses on this unit work 12 hour shifts. Registered Nurses new to caring for this specialized patient population are provided a 4-10 week orientation on the unit, depending on their competency level.
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing and directing general nursing care to patients. The RN follows nursing process of assessment, planning, & implementation in a single or variety of departments/units. Will administer medication & treatment; participate in safety protocol; observe, assess & record patient condition; initiate patient education; and perform nursing skills within BLS protocols and standards.
Valid State RN License, required.
