  • Summary: Responsible for all aspects of insurancefollow up and collection activity. EssentialDuties and Responsibilities: 1.Responsible for all aspects of follow up and collections, includingmaking telephone calls, accessing payer websites. 2.--{PS..0}Identify issues or trending and provide suggestions for resolution. 3.Accurately and thoroughly documents the pertinent collection activityperformed. 4.--{PS..1}Review the account information and necessary system applications todetermine the next appropriate work activity. 5.Verify claims adjudication utilizing appropriate resources andapplications.6.--{PS..2}Initiate telephone or letter contact to patients to obtain additionalinformation as needed. 7.Perform appropriate billing functions, including manual re-bills as wellas electronic submission to payers. 8.--{PS..3}Edit claims to meet and satisfy billing compliance guidelines forelectronic submission. 9.Manage and maintain desk inventory, complete reports, and resolve highpriority and aged inventory.10.--{PS..4}Participate and attend meetings, training seminars and in-services todevelop job knowledge.11.Participate in the monthly, quarterly and annual performance evaluationprocess with their Supervisor. 12.--{PS..5}Respond timely to emails and telephone messages as appropriate. Communicate issues to management, includingpayer, system or escalated account issues.13.Ability to perform all other duties as assigned or requested.

  6. Demonstrated critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and decision-making skills

  7. Basic skills - able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately

  8. Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes

  9. Intermediate knowledge of UB-04 and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation

  10. Intermediate knowledge of insurance collections and insurance terminology

Reasoning Ability:

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

· To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software and E-mail software

· Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED). In addition, one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
