Community Health Systems Occupational Therapist in Spartanburg, South Carolina


Plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Teaches patients skills/techniques and how to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. Studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress.

  • Evaluating and assessing needs of referred patients

  • Formulating and preforming treatment plans to meet each patients individual needs and goals

  • Working cooperatively with physicians, social workers, outreach coordinators and all members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Supervises occupational therapy assistants and aides

  • Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the competency checklist.

  • Completes documentation in a timely, efficient and accurate manner. This includes: assessments, reassessments, progress notes, discharge summaries, patient and family education and interdisciplinary plan of cares.

  • Maintain standards of patient care by reviewing documentation written by COTAs in the medical record and by demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary in providing care to all patient population.

  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain and treat an appropriate patient caseload

  • Instruct patients in adapted techniques, use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and other self-care skills.

  • Provide consultation in areas such as environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper positioning

  • Design and administer treatment programs to increase patient s levels of functioning. Use of therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination. Provide therapy for neurological integration and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs.

  • Provides family training to patients and families prior to discharge that includes personal care for patients, proper transfer techniques and home safety

  • Develops and reviews home exercise programs



  • Licensed Occupational Therapist

  • 1-3 years of clinical experience in related area of therapy services, new grads will be considered

  • Excellent communication skills
