Community Health Systems Cath Lab Tech (Certified) - Full Time / Day Shift (plus call rotation) in St. Petersburg, Florida


Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and other related procedures.

Inserts small catheters through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks under general supervision including:

  • Assures that all CCL procedures are provided upon properly identified patients, according to approved policy/procedure with a high level of proficiency.

  • Carefully checks physician s orders to insure accuracy and thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and reinforces patient education, addresses related questions and/or concerns.

  • Consistently obtains the appropriate clinical information on each patient and provides it to the physician for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

  • Circulates within the sterile environment, reviewing patients with a high degree of proficiency.

  • Accurately maintains pharmaceuticals and infusions under the direction of the cardiologist.

  • Performs ACLS/BLS and cardioversion/defibrillation safely and with a high degree of proficiency.

  • Assists the cardiologist with various diagnostic procedures with a high degree of expertise.

  • Assists the cardiologist with a high degree of expertise in various interventional procedures: peripheral and coronary angioplasty and stentings, and Angiojet.

  • Assists the cardiologist with a high degree of expertise in various Electrophysiologic procedure including EP studies, ablations, pacemaker insertion, ICD insertion, CARTO mapping, and running the Prucka Cardiolab.

  • Prepares patient for all procedures providing and maintaining a sterile field.

  • Achieves hemostatsis with<3% hematoma rate.

  • Safely transports patients and accurately reports data to appropriate personnel.

  • Accurately and consistently recognizes arrhythmias and/or abnormal rhythm and waveform changes and alerts the team immediately.

  • Operates hemodynamic equipment proficiently and accurately identifies, records, and reports information appropriately according to approved policy and procedure.

  • Consistently sets proper parameters digital acquisition.

  • Accurately burns CD s, troubleshooting processor for quality images.

  • Consistently follows radiation safety precautions for self, team and patient.

  • Assures that appropriate inventory levels are maintained and that all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available for use when needed with an emphasis on cost effectiveness.

  • Demonstrates the ability to review a situation, consider the alternatives, and choose the appropriate course of action, and performs all other duties assigned with enthusiasm and expertise resulting in positive outcomes.

  • Sets up IABP and is able to assist in insertion of balloon as well as maintaining the pump and trouble-shooting any and all alarms and malfunctions.


Certification or Associate's Degree in AMA accredited Allied Health Related field or

Completion of formal surgical technician training or

2 years experience in Cardiac Cath Lab


Any of the following certifications/licenses: RTR, RRT, RCVT, RCIS, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, CST
