Community Health Systems Central Supply Technician - Part time Days in Birmingham, Alabama


This position is responsible for Central Supply stock replenishment, par stock replenishment, accurately entering data into the MMIS (HMS), issuing and delivering supplies to all areas and departments, and pickup/decontamination of patient care equipment. These processes are to be done efficiently, accurately, and punctually to ensure provision of excellent patient care.



High School diploma or equivalent; college desirable. Must be able to demonstrate basic math skills (add/subtract/multiple/divide) and maintain filing/recordssystems; knowledge of medical supplies and equipment preferred; basic computer/keyboarding skills or better required to accurately and expeditiously enter data into the MMIS system; prior keyboarding competence and experience required. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate good customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions. Performs routine work requiring problem-solving capability and paying close attention to detail; must be a self-directed individual with the skills to produce accurate work results within established timeframes. Must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance and direction.

Prior healthcare or equivalent experience in receiving distributing and/or organizing the inventory of hospital medical supplies preferred. One to three months of detailed job orientation and training to learn internal systems and distribution procedures.
