Community Health Systems Clinical Engineer Lead in Blue Island, Illinois

Description:

Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls the activities of the Clinical Engineering. Responsible for maintaining the medical equipment, and safety of the hospital and off-site facilities. Serves as Team member of the Environment of Care Committee. Maintains policies and procedures to direct each department and to meet all local, state, and federal regulations.

Under Director supervision, performs routine Clinical Equipment Maintenance duties. Works with computerized data, supervisors, and staff to expedite requests, dispatch personnel as needed, maintains documentation manuals to insure compliance for State and Federal regulatory agencies, catalog, identify and maintain hospital medical equipment.

Qualifications

Education: Associates degree required. Additional technical training as required in specific job duties.

Experience:

  • Develops, implements and directs a preventative and corrective maintenance program to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operation medical equipment and all related operating equipment within the facility; plans and coordinates the repair of recommends the replacement of, or additions to, equipment as needed.

  • Plans, develops and participates in a continuing departmental training program and orientation programs related to safety, codes, regulations, and work performance. Evaluates the effectiveness of the programs and adjusts and modifies contact as necessary.

  • Develops annual operating, personnel and capital budgets for department. Monitors budget performance after approval and takes appropriate action to maintain budget within set limits.

  • Prepares various statistical and operating reports for Corporate files, Performance Improvement Committee and other committees as needed.

  • Serves as liaison between medical equipment vendors and hospital personnel. Analyzes plans and recommends approvals or modifications. Ensures schedules are met and satisfy established hospital standards and other regulations and codes. Advises staff of the interim life safety measures required to ensure life safety is not diminished. Follows up to ensure measures are made and monitored.

  • Assists department directors and others to understand and stay in compliance with all codes and regulations related to life safety, general safety, EPA, OSHA, IDPH, JCAHO, insurance carriers and city agencies.
