Community Health Systems PRN/Registry MT/MLT in Blue Island, Illinois
The MT/MLT works in the Laboratory performing highly complex tests which aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Testing is performed manually and on instrumentation. The work requires the ability and knowledge to interpret results, including those which are abnormal. The MLT/MT participates in quality assurance initiatives, assists with training new employees, promotes financial goals of the department, and provides support in the general operations of the Laboratory. All activities are conducted in compliance with federally mandated MetroSouth Medical Center Corporate Responsibility Process, HIPAA guidelines, safety and infection control protocols.
MLT Education Requirement: The work requires an in-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory testing which can be acquired through an associate's level program in Medical Lab Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related area, including clinical training in an approved Medical Lab Technology program.
MT Education Requirement: The work requires an in-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory testing which can be acquired through a bachelor's level program in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related area, including one year of clinical training in an approved Medical Technology program.
Experience: Previous experience in the hospital setting preferred. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
License/Certification: ASCP/AMT certified or eligible.
