Community Health Systems Director Pharmacy/Hospital in Brentwood, Tennessee
This position will support pharmacy operations in hospitals and serve as a resource for corporate partners. The goals and objectives of this position are to serve as a resource to bring continuity and standardization to pharmacy operations to reduce/contain operating costs and improve quality patient care through education and support of Directors of Pharmacy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs, establishes and plans the overall policies and goals for pharmacy operations.
Reviews pharmacy operations and clinical services for providing safe, effective, and timely quality patient care to include, but not limited to, ensuring drug security, contract compliance, controlled substance policy compliance, clinical intervention initiatives, performance improvement, and implementation of standardized Pharmacy policies & procedures.
Educates the pharmacy directors, pharmacy staff, and appropriate facility staff on The Joint Commission Medication Management Standards, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participations, and assists in the preparation for surveys. Provides initial training of new Pharmacy Directors.
Define and communicate pharmacy goals to hospital pharmacy directors and leadership.
Maintain industry awareness in order to identify potential new opportunities and enhancements to pharmacy operations.
Perform on-site assessments related to Pharmacy as needed.
Create and maintain baseline/benchmark reports for pharmacy to monitor performance improvement and cost savings.
Lead internal and external meetings related to the pharmacy product line.
Coordinate with other product line and operations leadership to implement standard reports, documents, policies and procedures across product lines.
WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) or graduate of a foreign college of pharmacy. An advanced degree in pharmacy is preferred.
Proven success as a Director of Pharmacy (or equivalent) with a minimum of five years of clinical and operational experience in the hospital setting.
Experience with at least one (1) pharmacy automation system as well as one (1) implementation of an electronic health record system.
Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in state of residence. Additional state licensures may be required.
Travel to hospitals as requested by hospital or corporate leadership as needed.
