Community Health Systems Medical Technologist (Evenings) in Brownwood, Texas


Seeking a Medical Technologist with a great attitude who is a dependable team player! Must be highly motivated and committed to a quality of care that emphasizes the patient first. Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department s policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Not only do Medical Technologists work in the clinical areas of the Laboratory, they are required to perform phlebotomy and work directly with patients on a daily basis. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.


Education: AS or BS degree required. Degree must be in Medical Technology or one of the biological or chemical sciences.

Experience: One to two years experience preferred. (Can be a new grad)

Licenses/Certificates: Registration as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), MT(AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) required - or be a MT(ASCP) with a specialty in one of the laboratory disciplines such as SBB, SH, SC, SM, or SI. Or can be a registered technician: MLT(ASCP)

Skills Required: Technical skills to organize and perform various medical laboratory procedures. Training and competency to perform analytical laboratory testing on patient specimens. Strong, positive interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Problem-solving ability, time management skills, and organizational and multitasking skills to function successfully in a fast paced work environment.
