Description:

The Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of foods. Prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items for sonsumption following the standardized recipes.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience: Two years culinary or food service experience preferred.

Skills: Ability to manipulate hand tools such as knives, as in cuttings; to wrap loose items. Ability to pick up a variety of items and place them on shelves; to move knobs, buttons or switches on control panel. Ability to coordinate hand and foot, with vision, to physically position material prior to operation. Must possess the ability to interact and communicate in English, both orally and written, with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and families in an effective manner, exhibiting tact, enthusiasm, and patience. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Able to lift and carry equipment and supplies. Requires good communication and organization skills. Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Requires corrected hearing and vision within a normal range.

Licenses/Certifications: Proof of enrollment in Food Handler s Class within 30 days of employment. Food Handler's Card within 90 days of employment.
