Department Description

The Critical Care floor is a 21 bed combined Intensive Care and Progressive Care unit focused on providing a high level of direct and individualized care to treat critically ill patients with a variety of life-threatening medical, cardiovascular, neurological, and surgical needs. Our highly skilled team of healthcare professionals is dedicated to keeping our patients and their family healthy.

This is a PRN night shift position working 1-2 shifts per week, or as needed.

Responsibilities

  • The RN evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care

  • Assists physicians during examinations and procedures

  • Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the RN

  • Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/Critical Care experience in an acute care hospital setting required

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas

  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved courses in BLS required upon hire

  • AHA approved ACLS and PALS certification required within 90 days of hire
