Located minutes from downtown Austin,Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a level IV Designated Trauma Center withmore than 600 healthcare professionals working together to provide inpatient,outpatient, surgical and emergency care for Cedar Park and the greater Austinregion.

Position Overview

Our laboratory is growing and we areseeking an experienced Medical Technologist to join our team!This is a full time position working Monday through Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pmwith rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five(5) years of blood bank experience in an acute care hospital setting.

The Medical Technologist performsroutine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on alltypes of blood and body fluid specimens, ensuring accurate and reliable testresults by adhering to a strict quality control program.


  • Follows laboratory procedure forspecimen collection, handling and processing which is appropriate to the age ofthe patient

  • Uses two patient identifiers duringcollection, receiving, and test processing

  • Monitors possible effects of pre-analyticalvariables and follows laboratory procedures for handling specimens thatadversely affect test results

  • Reports test results accurately

  • Recognizes factors that affectmeasurements and results and take appropriate action to resolve the issues

  • Communicate and document relevantpatient laboratory testing data including critical result to appropriatehealthcare provider for patient s continuum of care in a timely manner

  • Check and troubleshoot outstanding testslist in a timely manner. Knowledgeable with analysis on analyzers and abilityto perform manual test procedures in all areas of the lab

  • Performs and documents quality controland instrument maintenance in a timely manner in compliance with alldepartmental procedures and regulatory guidelines

  • Takes appropriate action to maintainaccuracy, precision and notifies appropriate supervisory personnel if unable toresolve issues

  • Perform tasks in a manner that facilitateswork flow and enhances the quality of patient care

  • Performs proficiency survey according tothe policy in a timely manner and accurately

  • Ability to train and mentor new staffand students in practical application and theory of the general department

  • Able to effectively operate theLaboratory Computer System for general laboratory and section specificfunctions

  • Performs instrument function checks andpreventative maintenance procedures according to department s policies andprocedures

  • Assists as needed in all laboratoryareas as required to maintain appropriate patient care

  • Demonstrates willingness to assumeadditional responsibilities when needed


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in MedicalTechnology, or closely related field

  • Certified as a Medical Technologist (MT)or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology(ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of generalistexperience in an acute care hospital laboratory performing blood bank /transfusions required

  • Must be a US citizen or eligible to workin the US for any employer. No sponsorship will be provided
