Community Health Systems Nursery Registered Nurse / RN (PRN Night Shift) in Cedar Park, Texas

Department Description

Our labor and delivery staff have specialized experiencein childbirth support and newborn care. The L&D unit is composed of 6 laborrooms, 2 ante partum and rooms, 18 postpartum rooms and 3 triage beds. We areequipped with an onsite NICU and have a certified lactation consultation-staffto assist when needed.

We are seeking an experienced Nursery Registered Nurse to join our team! This is a PRN night shift position working 1-2 shifts per week, or as needed.


  • Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements anddocuments nursing care

  • Assists physicians during examinations and procedures

  • Prep pre-delivery equipment

  • Attend deliveries and perform immediate care of newborn

  • Report potential maternal and/or fetal problems to thephysician for evaluation

  • Performs various patient tests and administersmedications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse

  • Establish individualized patient care goals and teachingfamilies to understand conditions, medications, and newborn care skills

  • Relies on experience and sound judgment to plan andaccomplish goals

  • Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree ofcreativity and latitude

  • Perform post-partum care as needed


  • Minimum of an Associate s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from anaccredited RN program. Bachelor s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursery and/or post-partumexperience

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Texas

  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic LifeSupport (BLS) certification required upon hire. Neonatal Resuscitation program(NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire

  • Flexibility to cross-train in post-partum care

  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Must be a team player with a strong commitment toproviding superior patient care
