Located minutes from downtown Austin, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a level IV Designated Trauma Center with more than 600 healthcare professionals working together to provide inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care for Cedar Park and the greater Austin region.

Department Description

The Medical/Surgical Unit is a 36-bed unit focused on providing a high level of direct and individualized care to treat patients with a variety of general and specialized surgical procedures, including orthopedic, neurology, bariatric, urology, cardiac, etc. Surgery at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is performed in one of the hospital s six “surgical super suites —650-square foot operating rooms equipped with modern surgical equipment and fully integrated digital diagnostic imaging technology.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Care Tech to join our team! This is a full time day shift position working 3 shifts per week from 7:00 am - 7:30 pm, rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

  • Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, and/or eating

  • Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs, but does not start or administer intravenous fluids

  • Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed

  • Documents patient interactions as needed

  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Performs a variety of tasks

  • Works under general supervision and typically reports to a Registered Nurse or manager

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience. Hospital Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred

  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

  • Certification from an accredited nursing assistant program preferred

  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred

  • Ability to be cross-trained in other units as necessary
