Community Health Systems RN WOUND AND OSTOMY CARE - INPATIENT - PRN - DAYS in Crystal River, Florida



Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse serves as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems such as complex draining wounds, ostomies, fistulae, dermal ulcers and tubes. Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients regarding our programs for the reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Actively engages in all initiatives to improve patient satisfaction results. While functioning primarily as a consultant with direct patient care and patient education, this position also provides staff development in areas of expertise, as required.


Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designated to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of unit or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephone in a prompt and courteous manner. Provides assistance, explains procedures and exhibits concern, as appropriate, to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the hospital s Standards of Conduct and of our external and internal customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.


Minimum Education : Associate/Diploma/Bachelor degree from an accredited nursing program.

Preferred Education: Bachelor s degree and graduation from a WOCN-accredited program.

Minimum Experience: 2 years RN experience.

Preferred Experience: 2 years wound care and/or ostomy experience

Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Florida RN licensure, BLS certification, and CWOCN, CWON, or CWCN certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language. Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment.
