Community Health Systems Resp Therapist Registered Full Time in Enterprise, Alabama
Responsible for providing care which includes assessment, treatment, control diagnostic evaluation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Consults with physicians. Provides consultation, instruction and/or technical direction of medical, nursing and other staff members.
The Cardiopulmonary Department is responsible for all Code Blue calls, all RRT calls, Stroke team and CVA Alerts. The department monitors Post-Op Incentive Spirometers and oxygen requirements as well as perform EKG's, EEG's and Stress Tests. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager.
- Requires an associate's degree and a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Desirable characteristics include two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment.
Must possess a current State of Alabama Respiratory Therapist License
RRT certification preferred, but will accept CRT certification.
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS).
PALS/ACLS certification preferred
