Community Health Systems Director - Information Technology (Oversees multiple locations) in Florida


The Director of Information Technology, reporting to the Market Chief Information Officer serves as an integral part of the information services leadership team in support of the vision and mission of the health system. The IT director is to function with the ability to support their local organization and collaborate directly with corporate IT teams. The IT Director has responsibility for Information Technology and systems service management at the facility. The position develops and monitors metrics for all support calls and reviews improvement opportunities on a regular basis with the facility and corporate leadership teams. Ensuring physician satisfaction by communicating and resolving issues personally where necessary is a key requirement of this position. This position is responsible for ensuring an outstanding level of customer service to physicians, clinical staff, business partners, contractors and leadership team. This position will manage the teams that handle the implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, security, applications and management of all devices and services providing voice and data communication in line with business requirements. This position will play a key role in the service delivery operations and vendor governance. The position will monitor and control the client service and infrastructure suppliers' operating metrics to ensure a high quality of service delivery. The position does require travel occasional travel.

  • Graduate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or experience in business or a science (computer science, mathematics, engineering, statistics, clinical discipline, etc.)

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

  • Nine to fifteen years combined experience in large application systems deployment and management, preferably in a multi hospital and/or medical center setting or eight years as a manager in a similar setting.

  • Must possess strong skills in writing, speaking and dealing with all levels of people.

  • Should demonstrate line experience in preparation and control of budgets, personnel administration, contractor and vendor management, and direction of others.

  • Ten (10) years, progressively increasing responsibility and directly related to infrastructure and client service delivery.

Position Expectations

  • Expectations for facility IT Director are listed below but not limited to:

  • Possess appropriate knowledge to provide IT services to facility and clinic personnel

  • Incident Management via Service Now

  • Triage all levels of application or technical incidents in Service Now

  • Ensure all facility staff is properly utilizing Service Now

  • Ticket/Process Analysis

  • Ticket follow-up and communications

  • Manage all IT facility level projects

  • Accountable for Facility level Life Cycle Management

  • Communication with local Administration, management and staff

  • Rounding with C-suite

  • Rounding with Physician groups

  • Clinical, Business, and Financial Rounding

  • Escalation/communication point for local C-team and Corp IT

  • Conduct Governance Committee with local C-team, communicate results to corp

  • Responsible for all IT Compliance – Implement all corporate standards

  • Security at the facility and clinic level

  • Access/Role Management

  • Possess detailed knowledge of security role provisioning of all levels of staff

  • Systems monitoring: resolve or escalate issues

  • Responsible for maintaining all local hardware support – Desktop, devices, servers

  • Incident, Change and Problem Management – adhering to CHS policies and procedures

  • Responsible for overseeing and assessing, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues

  • Ability to be user-focused, build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to lead and manage conflict effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to apply knowledge of existing CHS IT process engineering methodologies and principles to daily assignments and activities

  • Knowledge of Server hardware configuration and provisioning in both a virtual and stand-alone model

  • Knowledge of virtual desktop configurations and management
