Community Health Systems Phlebotomy Team Coordinator (Supervisor)- Full-time, 32 hrs. per week in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Under the immediate direction of theLaboratory Team Specialist, accountable for the day-to-day operations andsupervision of phlebotomy staff as well as a preceptor for other phlebotomistsduring orientation and ongoing training. Serves as a working clinical supervisorto support clinical needs for outpatient lab draws, inpatient lab draws asneeded and performs outpatient EKG s as necessary. In addition, shall providesupport to technical laboratory team members in the identification, collection,logging, processing and distribution of laboratory specimens and results.Responsible for monthly QA/PI activity, performance of QC and POC testing. Will serve as a primary point of contact forphlebotomy activities under the direction of the Laboratory Team Specialist.
Experience: Minimum 3 – 5 years of recent clinical laboratory experience with progressively more responsibility, including previous phlebotomy experience. Experience should also include pediatric, adolescents, adults and geriatric guests preferred. Prior leadership/supervisor experience preferred.
Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent), with additional training in related areas.
Certification: BCLS required within 60 days of hire
EKG required within 90 days of hire
UDS certificate required within 60 days of hire
Phlebotomy certification/course within 30 days of hire
Demonstrates knowledge in healthcare delivery.
Demonstrates a general knowledge of educational principles and techniques utilized in education.
Requires knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts and philosophy.
Requires a full understanding of the role of the laboratory support processes in assisting patient care and the responsibility of the laboratory to provide accurate and timely information to assist in positive patient outcomes in addition to the importance of maintaining positive working relationships with other staff members in the laboratory, the hospitals and client offices.
Demonstrates leadership and group cohesion skills that promote teamwork and group achievement.
Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all internal and external customers.
