Community Health Systems *Physician Practice Chief Financial Officer - Lutheran Medical Group (Ft. Wayne, IN) in Fort Wayne, Indiana
With minimalsupervision and through interaction with CEO, other managers, staff publicaccountants, auditors and other relevant outside administrators, vendors andsuppliers, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the followingfunctions: Accounting, Billing and Collections. And with all Lutheran Medical Group positions, to always promote,through actions and attitudes, the highest level of customer care and service.
This position reportsdirectly to the CEO of the practice. Supervisory and/or staff positions within the functions noted abovereport directly to the incumbent of this position as noted on the organizationchart.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The Chief Financial Officerposition typically requires a minimum of seven years experience in managerialand financial accounting, five of which have been in management. The position also requires a minimum of aBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and preferably an MBA.
The position demands skillsin trend analysis, forecasting, budgeting and the ability to generate andanalyze ADHOC reports.
To be highly effective, theincumbent must also possess strong analytical and problem solving skills; mustalso be able to develop internal accounting policies and procedures, includingcash handling processes and manage/enforce these effectively.
The position also demandsmanagement skills, planning and organizational abilities, excellentcommunication and collaboration skills and the ability to produce accurate,timely and relevant reports and other related documents.

Responsiblefor identification and ongoing evaluation of strategic financial goals andensuring that organization is on target to meet those goals.
Continuallyreviews and analyzes the operation of assigned area of responsibility, ensuringthat staff is providing efficient and quality delivery of services whileproductivity targets are achieved. Identifies variances in area of responsibility and determinesappropriate resolution or recommendation.
Researches,develops and implements policies, procedures and related standards of servicesand programs in assigned areas to assure consistency with corporate andfacility mission and values.
Responsiblefor the hiring, discipline, promotion, evaluation, training, scheduling, andwork assignments of associates in the area of responsibility and makeseffective recommendations regarding same.Provides leadership and guidance to management staff in area ofresponsibility to ensure optimal orientation is provided in assigned duties,quality control, and equipment operation to attain desired skills.
Representsclinic practice to a variety of community and professional organizations.
Completesannual reviews of staff, providing guidance, teaching accounting principles,structure, theory, and reports.
Providingreports, conducting trend analysis
Effectivelycoordinating and overseeing the activities associated with the organization,external administrators, and other vendors/suppliers.
Maintainsprivacy of all parties with regard to information as attained through written,verbal, or electronic disclosure.Maintains confidentiality of both patients and employees, consistentwith facility guidelines.
Addressesfacility and departmental communication through daily review of allcorrespondence, including incoming email messages.
The incumbent is challengedby the demanding pace of the work environment. Tact and diplomacy is required in the implementation and coordination ofduties and responsibilities. Must beable to plan thoroughly and appropriately and provide clear and conciseanalysis and recommendations to CEO. Must also be able to ensure a high level of integrity and understandingrelative to both financial and administrative practices and policies includingHuman Resources.
Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred; CPA preferred
5 years experience in physician office finance operations
5 years experience in acute care hospital accounting
Numerical ability to analyze problems and develop accounting systems to accurately control financial activity
Proven ability to present financial information to investors
Experience presenting financial information to large groups
Proven ability to educate department managers on financial processes and initiatives
