Community Health Systems Phlebotomist-PRN in Granite City, Illinois


The phlebotomist is responsible for all aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing. Maintains the Mission and Values of the Gateway Regional Medical Center.


Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent; display ability to read and understand written data; possess good verbal communication skills. Data entry skills required. Must be capable of performing all phlebotomy functions within the laboratory including but not limited to specimen collection, labeling, receipt, processing, delivery, and report distribution. Maintains the Mission and Values of the Gateway Regional Medical Center.

Experience: At least 3 months experience preferred (6 months minimum required for shift 3). Experience in data entry and medical terminology. Must demonstrate a pleasant tone of voice and positive attitude; have the ability to effectively communicate with varied age groups. Ability to learn and use the hospital computer system.

Licenses/Certifications: Phlebotomy certification preferred. Must possess current card from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers within 3 months of hire.
