Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Typically reports to supervisor or manager.
High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of state, federal JCAHO regulations. Graduate of an accredited C.M.A program.
Experience: 1 year experience as a medical assistant required. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and have the ability to assess data appropriate to the age specific needs of the patients on his or her assigned department and/or unit.
Licenses/Certificates : BCLS required (American Heart Association); Credentialing for a medical assistant must come from an approved C.M.A national organization approved by CMS . A qualified C.M.A must be be active and in good standings with one the following approved organizations. The following designations are all nationally recognized and meet the CMS guidelines for meaningful use: Only one of the below national registry's is acceptable.
