Community Health Systems SSC Staff Accountant in Nashville, Tennessee
Community Health Systems (CHS) Shared Services Center (SSC) Nashville, is conducting a search for a Staff Accountant. In this position, the Staff Accountant will work individually and as part of the team within the Accounting department. This person would be responsible for timely and accurate reporting of financial information including the preparation of internal financial accounting reports and other special projects as assigned. This person will deliver consistent and accurate information on a timely basis. Must be able to manage, display an extremely high level of organizational skills, and display honesty, integrity when producing, delivering and distributing financial information. In addition, a high degree of confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
CHS owns 127 hospitals across the country (mainly in the SE) with approximately 120,000 employees. This position supports revenue cycle operations on behalf of the SSC assigned facilities (hospitals). The SSC ensures that CHS hospitals get reimbursed for the services that they provide. CHS hospitals viability is based upon the SSC's ability to collect revenues for those services and allows the hospitals to continue to serve communities that otherwise would be without a healthcare provider.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned).
Support day-to-day revenue cycle operational functions of the Shared Services Center.
Prepare and complete all month-end closing journal entries.
Prepare payroll reports for analysis.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
Code, log, key and post wires for divested facilities throughout each month.
Complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations for divested facilities.
Provide other support to the CFO, the Director of Cash and Financial Analyst by completing special projects and other periodically assigned activities.

Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Knowledge of GAAP and the ability to work within those principles on an on-going basis.

Effectively demonstrates high proficiency in MS Excel, along with solid MS office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) interaction.
Must be able to work independently (and as part of a team), within stated goals, objectives and have the commitment to achieve those goals and objectives within the given time constraints.
Healthcare knowledge (specifically revenue cycle processes with the context of hospitals), along with experience using various accounting software tools such as HMS is extremely helpful. Any exposure to AS 400 systems an added plus.
MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Hospital patient accounting and billing systems (HMS, Artiva, SSI, etc.).
Minimum of a HS degree, prefer a college degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Hospital insurance collections background preferred.
Medical/hospital business office experience would be the ideal background along with some financial analysis, accounting and/or revenue cycle experience.
