Performs patientregistration and office support duties of a complex nature. Provides quality customer service to internaland external customers. Participates in the collection of up-front revenue dueto the facility.
Verifies andaccurately enters demographic information in the hospital computer system.Verifies and accurately enters insurance information in the hospital computersystem. Responsible for maintaining and completing accurate bed check and midnight censusprocess. Completes all forms related tothe registration process to maintain compliance with hospital and regulatoryagencies. Initiates DES application on all uninsured patients or underinsuredpatients. Adheres to eligibility and authorization requirements on allscheduled/registered patients. Adheres to notification guidelines for thirdparty payers to prevent denials and to ensure proper billing. Adheres tofacility POS Collection guidelines, which includes but is not limited to propercashiering procedures and documentation requirements. Clearly documents activities and actionstaken on accounts, which includes but is not limited to registration results,completed forms, copies of insurance cards and ID, eligibility, authorizationcommunications with patients, staff and clinical departments. Meets or exceedsdepartment quality assurance standards, which includes but is not limited toself audits, audit scores, compliance reports. Maintains current knowledge ofdepartment standards/requirements through participation in education programs,in-service meetings and department communications. Timely, reads and takes appropriate actionwith any and all communications received. Demonstrates proficiency at hospital wide and/or department specificcomputer software and technology. Performs other job duties relevant to theposition as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required
Experience: One year of data entry and customerservice relations required. Medicalterminology preferred. One year ofregistration experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
Skills: Ability to read and write Englishfluently; personal computers skills; ability to maintain good customerrelations; ability to explain basic corporate compliance policies; problemsolving and communication skills.
