Community Health Systems Coder/Financial Counselor - Full Time in Petersburg, Virginia
This professional is responsible for accurate code assignment and input of all inpatient, outpatient and emergency service diagnoses and procedures. This financial specialist is also responsible for coordination of patient payments to the physician practice, ensuring collection of deductible, co-payment and coinsurance amounts on all insurance accounts during the visit/treatment process and creating satisfactory payment arrangements for patients. Assists patients with financial inquiries received by telephone or in person; analyzes and resolves complex billing issues; serves as a super user in physician billing requirements across various major payer networks; foresees the short and long term affects of billing issues and troubleshoots related problems. Serves as the office liaison for all scheduled inpatient and outpatient procedures at SRMC. Facilitate the same day access for ALL patients requesting to be treated by provider.
- High school diploma is required.
Three years experience in a related position is required.
Proficient use of computers.
Experience interacting with all levels of outpatient and hospital administration, physicians and other healthcare team members.
Knowledge of physician billing across medical payers, medical terminology, and practice management software is preferred.
Collection and denial management experience is preferred.
- CPC or equivalent certification in medical coding is required within first year of employment.
