Community Health Systems Admin Asst I, PRN, Days, Laboratory in Ponca City, Oklahoma
The Laboratory Office Clerk/Receptionist shall be responsible for providing clerical, billing, patient related support in the functional areas of record keeping, test ordering, communications and processing, patients meeting medical necessity, utilizing knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems and procedures.
Reviews requests for Lab Tests, verifies patient name, completes patient records, and orders patient testing. Verifies physician orders and consults patient record as appropriate. Enters data into the Hospital Information Systems and/or Laboratory Information System. Prepares patients for testing when requested. Maintains proper office supplies. Coordinates reports and face sheets for recurring orders and billing. Copies and/or fax results. Answers phones in a polite and courteous manner.
Must observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning personal, financial, medical and employment status of patients of AllianceHealth Ponca City and their families. Must follow accepted safety practices for patients and hospital, report safety hazards, initiate appropriate action when needed, and participate in safety instructional programs. Follow directions and perform work according to job description with little or no supervision. Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates professionalism and integrity in daily activities.

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Desirable characteristics include at least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Must have computer and word processing experience along with proficiency in typing. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and co-workers.
