Community Health Systems Endoscopy Tech-FT ASC in San Angelo, Texas
The GI technician/associate shall be responsible for the care of the endoscopy patient by proficiently planning, implementing and evaluating the preparation of the endoscopy case and the endoscopy suites. General Responsibilities: 1.Will learn and assist in all endoscopy procedures including ERCP's and emergent GI procedures such as foreign body extraction and GI bleeders. 2.?Will learn and assist in all Pulmonary procedures such as Bronchoscopy and Thoracentesis. 3. Will learn and assist with other minor procedures, such as eye cases and apligrafs, under the supervision of the RN or physician. 4.Know proper procedure for Custom Ultrasonics sink, computer and washers. 5. Know the responsibility and necessity of chemical and biological monitoring for Custom Ultrasonics machine (Cidex OPA). 6. Anticipate needs of physician during endoscopic or any other procedures. 7. Assist in collecting data for an objective assessment to identify the patient's needs. 8. Assist, under the direction of the RN, in the implementation of the established plan of care. 9. Assist the physician and RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. 10.Respond to emergency situations as directed by physician and the RN. 11.Provide and maintain a safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with regulatory agency requirements and standards set forth by professional organizations and employers. 12. Be responsible for personnel continuing education. 13. Be knowledgeable about professional and practice issues related to the field of gastroenterology. 14.Comply with ethical, professional and legal standards inherent in patient care and professional conduct, e.g. patient's bill of rights. 15.Participate in organizational performance improvement (PI) activities, as directed. 16.Cleans and prepares room between procedures and after last case, restocks supplies, when necessary and organizes effectively for end of case clean up. 17. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated supplies, equipment, for each individual endoscopy procedure. 18.? Follows aseptic technique, when setting up the procedure. Maintaining an orderly and clean endoscopy procedure table. 19. Demonstrates competence in care of specimens and accurately handles specimens at all times. 20 Informs Manager, RN or Charge Nurse of actual or potential problems and initiates corrective action. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: - Two (2) years of experience in la hospital setting or endoscopy center Licenses/Certificates: - Complete GI Associates Skill Validation Test and achieve title of GI Technical Specialists - Current BLS certification
