Community Health Systems Part Time Certified Medical Assistant or LPN - 20 hours/week - Evening & Weekend shifts - Physicians Health Alliance - Old Forge in Scranton, Pennsylvania


Physicians Health Alliance is looking for a certified Medical Assistant or LPN to work in a well established practice.

Incumbent will support extended hours clinic and must be able to work 2 rotating weekday shifts until 8pm and every other Saturday from 8am-2pm

General duties:

  1. Provides direct nursing care, dispenses appropriate meds and injections as directed by physician. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patients charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol

  2. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complain, vital signs, medications, allergies

  3. Assists provider in minor surgical procedures and ancillary diagnostic procedures.

  4. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes appropriate paperwork.

  5. Executes standing orders for medication refills, tests and routine preventative services

  6. All incoming laboratory, radiology and consultation reports are placed in appropriate patient medical records and given to the physician.

  7. Participates and documents ongoing patient telephone calls, responds to patient s questions, as directed by physician, triages patient s condition, communicates pharmaceutical orders to pharmacies.

  8. Provides patient/ family education about managing conditions as directed by provider.

  9. Takes inventory of medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical and controlled substances.

  10. Responsible for placing all medical supply orders.

  11. Cleans, sterilizes (when needed) and prepares instruments.

  12. Routinely inspect condition and operation of diagnostic equipment and instruments.

  13. Identifies the need for corrective maintenance.

  14. Cleans and sets up examination and treatment rooms between patients.

  15. Ensures availability of appropriate instruments and equipment, and preparation of patient.


Must be an LPN or Certified Medical Assistant with diploma

Experience working in a medical office setting preferred
