Neuro ICU - Unit Overview

  • Case Types: Traumatic Brain Injury; Complicated Spine surgery; Stroke; Epilepsy; Neuro-interventional radiology

  • Technology/Equipment includes: GE monitor including EKG, Hemodynamic and Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring; Lumbar drains; Ventriculostomy

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, ASN

  • BSN preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year recent acute care nursing experience required.

  • 2 - 5 years experience in a Progressive Care, Cardiac, Trauma or Neuro Critical Care unit preferred.

  • Familiar with trauma, stroke, closed head injuries, spinal cord injuries, intracranial pressure monitoring and ventilatory management preferred.

  • Must have strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse license required

  • BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association required

  • Critical Care Course preferred

  • NIH Stroke Scale preferred
