LABOR & DELIVERY NURSES (RN) – BAYFRONT BABY PLACE NIGHT SHIFT

Bayfront Baby Place is seeking experienced RNs to join our busy team on the overnight shift.

A state-approved level III regional perinatal intensive care center (RPICC), Bayfront Baby Place is one of only 11 in the state of Florida. Perinatologists who specialize in high-risk births with neonatologists specializing in high-risk infants together offer patients some of the finest, most experienced care in the country delivering over 4000 babies per year .

Located on the 3rd floor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, and part of Bayfront Health Trauma Center, Bayfront Baby Place has resources that you will be proud of:

Key Responsibilities: Labor and delivery nursing combines elements of critical care, operating room, emergency department and pediatric nursing. If you want to work in labor and delivery, you need to think quickly on your feet, work well with families, coordinate information with medical staffers and enjoy the thrill of watching a new life come into the world.

Emergencies happen quickly in labor and delivery, and labor and delivery nurses spend long hours on their feet, helping their patients through labor or assisting with deliveries or cesarean sections.

The nurse must be able to recognize complications and act quickly in order to stabilize the situation and communicate with the patient, the patient s family, and the appropriate physicians and specialists in order to ensure a safe and healthy delivery.

  1. Providing support for the mother during labor

  2. Monitoring the fetal heart rate, and mother s vital signs

  3. Measuring the strength and timing of contractions

  4. Administering medications and performing diagnostic tests

  5. Consulting with physicians and other members of the care team

  6. Assisting with inducing labor

  7. Coaching the mother during delivery

  8. Identifying and assisting with complications

  9. Assisting with various procedures, including Cesarean sections

  10. Monitoring and performing tests on newborns

  11. Providing education and support to mothers and families after delivery

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Graduate of CCNE or NLNAC Accredited School of Nursing

  2. ASN Required, BSN Preferred

  3. Current State of Florida RN License

  4. BLS Required

  5. ACLS, NRP and EFM Preferred

One year plus acute care experience
