Summary: Coordinates day-to-day activities and responsibilities of assigned support staff in conjunction with Practice Manager. Provides leadership by example and ensures effectiveness in assigned work team.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in interviews with the Practice Manager; assist in the assessment of performance and provides coaching as necessary to maintain satisfactory performance and work productivity.

  2. Makes recommendation to the Practice Manager regarding appropriate staffing levels.

  3. Ensures that staff understands and follow established office policies and procedures; oversees training of new staff.

  4. Identifies, analyzes and resolves operational problems, in counsel with the Practice Manager.

  5. Ensures that staff is trained on computer applications to their job description and on going training is accomplished and participates in available professional activities and continuing education programs ACL.

  6. Manages supporting processes for patients scheduling, check-in, data collection and documentation. Monitors all billing activities as required, works in collaboration with billing manager.

  7. Ensures that front office and waiting rooms are clean and presentable at all times, removing all out dated reading material as needed.

  8. Ensures that front and back office equipment is maintained in proper working condition: initiates request for service when necessary.

  9. Demonstrates proficiency at hospital wide and/or department specific computer software and technology.

  10. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible and completes all other duties as needed or requested by Manager and/or Department Director.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience required. Associates degree preferred.

Experience: Four (4) year medical office or department experience, including two (2) years in lead or supervisory capacity. Experience in health care setting preferred.

Skills: Establishing and maintaining filing systems, researching and retrieving information, scheduling appointments, Supervising, training and evaluating staff.

Communicating effectively orally and in writing. Meditech system.

Licenses/Certifications: Medical Terminology certification preferred.
