Community Health Systems Unit Secretary Med/Surg- Full Time in Victoria, Texas
The Unit Secretary is responsible for transcription of orders, completes requisitions, follows through with requests, and charts appropriately as to action and doctor visits. Acts as unit receptionist responding positively to call bells, answering phones, greeting patients/families at the desk and doing Meditech order entry as required by unit worked. Communicates, openly with staff and other units/departments (radiology, lab, scheduling), house supervisor/overseer, and physicians offices in regard to scheduling of appointments and procedures in order to coordinate the continuum of the patient s care. Adheres to policies of the hospital and keeps organization and unity at the nurse s station.
A high school diploma or GED preferred.
Completion of a unit secretary training course or medical terminology course preferred
Previous receptionist/secretarial training is desired but not required.
Must possess ability to read effectively, write legibly, good spelling ability, typing skills and medical terminology.
