Community Health Systems Infection Control Manager - Infection Control - 1.0 FT D in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania


The Manager of Infection Prevention and Control has responsibility for the coordination and functioning of the infection prevention and control program which encompasses surveillance, prevention and control of infection. The Manager is a professional nurse who ensures compliance with state, federal and TJC standards related to infection prevention and control. Reports to the Chief Quality Officer, Administration.



Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Minimum bachelor s degree in related field required, masters degree preferred. Attendance at APIC courses “Epi 101 and “Epi 201 required prior to entering the position. Certification (CIC) by the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) required within one year of entering the position.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

Minimum three (3) years experience as Infection Preventionist; Managerial skills, clinical expertise, teach/instruct, clerical accuracy, communication skills, listening abilities, independent thinking/sound judgment; ability to deal with stress, able to react to emergency and crisis situations, committed to quality of care.

Skills: Clinical, managerial, communication, problem-solving.

Aptitudes: Independent thinker, ability to make sound judgments, ability to handle stress, ability to react to emergency and crisis situations, commitment to quality care.
